It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas with preparations in full swing for the annual Collie Christmas Pageant and Night Markets on 15 December.
This year’s Christmas Pageant starts at 2pm with a festival of old-time Christmas spirit with carols, Santa’s Grotto, roving entertainment, kids activities and all your show favourites.
The highlight of the festival is always the annual Street Parade with young and old lining the streets to see the floats at 6pm.
The Ladybird Fairies and Green Dragon are back for this year’s pageant, along with Stilt Chefs and the Flaming Idiots. Bring your picnic blanket to relax for the rest of the evening, listening to the sweet sounds of six-piece band, The Good Things playing until 10.30pm.
Locals know you need to get in early to secure the best viewing spot to see the iconic annual street parade. There are floats, roving displays and street performers of all types in the parade each year, and their creativity never ceases to amaze. 6-7pm.
If you’re participating in the parade, there is no need to register. Just assemble in Medic St between 5.30-5.45pm. All welcome, but there’s a couple of rules. No Santa costumes – he is already in the parade in his sleigh. For safety reasons, lollies may be handed to children along the route, but not thrown.
Visit from Santa
Every year, Santa makes a special visit to the Christmas Pageant, ready to create some beautiful memories for you and your family. Have your photo taken with Santa or wave to him in the Street Parade. From 4pm.
There’s plenty of activity for the whole family, with live music and performances, roving entertainers and a huge kite display. Your usual festival favourites will be there with face painting, bouncy castles, side show and rides. 2-10.30pm.
Markets and food vans
Browse to your heart’s content with a fabulous range of stalls in the Pageant’s annual pageant markets, from 2pm-9pm. There’s everything from gourmet food and drink, knick-knacks, beauty products, artisan and unique products and services.
