In the wake of the WA Skills Summit, held in Perth last Friday, The McGowan Labor Government is taking swift action to progress ideas that were identified in partnership with Western Australian industry leaders.
The State Government announced more priority initiatives to attract and retain skilled workers in Western Australia as part of its continuing work with industry and training providers to address the State’s skilled worker needs.
Following the successful adoption of the Jobs and Skills WA Adult Apprentice Employer Incentive, the State Government has brought forward the next 100 places from 2022-23.
Effective immediately, businesses may be eligible to receive up to $26,800 per apprentice, which would be paid at 3 checkpoints over a 4-year apprenticeship:
1. $10,720 issued 6 months after commencement of apprenticeship.
2. $8,040 issued at the midpoint of apprenticeship.
3. $8,040 issued on completion of apprenticeship.
The limited number of places saw the 100-place cap being reached in just over two weeks, and we anticipate that the next round of places will fill equally as quickly.
