CCCI South32 End of Year Sundowner

Celebrating Sole Traders: South32 Sundowner a Festive Business Connections Event at the CCCI

The Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) wrapped up the year in style with a vibrant celebration recognising the dedication, resilience, and achievements of sole traders. Held on the 12th of December, the festive gathering provided the perfect opportunity for attendees to reflect on the year’s successes, connect with like-minded entrepreneurs, and enjoy an evening of holiday cheer.

The event was proudly funded by Workforce Australia Local Jobs South West through Business Connections and made possible with the longstanding support of South32, a valued CCCI member for over 20 years. South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Collie community through initiatives like this.

The evening featured delicious food, lively conversations, and two insightful presentations from our host and sponsor. Guests celebrated their achievements, shared insights, and built connections that will undoubtedly contribute to future successes.

Tara van Beuningen, CEO of Collie CCCI, expressed her gratitude:

“We’re thrilled to host such a meaningful event to end the year. This celebration is not just about recognising hard work; it’s about fostering connections and strengthening our community. A huge thank you to Workforce Australia Local Jobs South West and South32 for their generous support in making this possible. To all our attendees, thank you for being part of Collie CCI’s success stories.”

Tara also reflected on the success of the Business Connections events throughout the year, sharing, “Over the 8 Business Connections events we’ve held this year, we’ve had 151 different attendees. A special mention goes to one business that attended 5 of these 8 events. Julie and Rex from Mystical Presents were recognised for their continued support and commitment by winning the door prize for the evening. Congratulations to them, and thank you for being such a valuable part of our Chamber community. We look forward to another wonderful year ahead!”

Natalie Cook, Chairperson of the Collie Chamber of Commerce, shared her thoughts on the significance of the event: “This Sundowner was about honouring our sole traders, who don’t get the chance to throw a Christmas party with a team. We wanted to bring them together with the Chamber’s members for an evening of connection and celebration. The Chamber currently has 45 Micro Business Members, and we recognise the importance of the support and connections we provide. This year has been challenging for many, and the Chamber continues to play a vital role in supporting and uplifting our local businesses.”

South32, with its Worsley Alumina operations, highlighted its ongoing commitment to the local economy. The company mines bauxite in Boddington, refines it into alumina powder, and exports it globally, significantly contributing to both local and international markets.

As the year draws to a close, the CCCI encourages all community members to join future Business Connections events. These gatherings offer invaluable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. By coming together, we can foster Collie’s economic growth, strengthen our bonds, and work towards a prosperous future for all.
