About Renergi:

Renergi Pty Ltd (https://renergi.net/) develops and commercialises innovative, environmentally responsible renewable energy technologies to support a negative-emission, bio-based circular economy.

We are currently commissioning our first commercial-scale pyrolysis plant in Collie, WA. This cutting-edge facility will convert municipal solid waste and biomass into high-value products, including biochar and bio-oil, providing a sustainable alternative to landfilling while permanently removing excess carbon from the atmosphere.

Given that this is our first commercial-scale plant, the role requirements will be dynamic from week to week, changing in response to the commissioning needs and challenges of the plant.  This is a unique opportunity to be an early part of a high-impact, climate-focused project.

About the challenge:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Plant Operator — ideally with trade qualifications or experience in welding, fitting, or fabrication — to join our commissioning team as the Lead Plant Operator.

Initially focused on the commissioning phase of the pyrolysis plant, the role offers significant scope for progression into broader responsibilities within Renergi as the project advances.

This role is primarily site-based in Collie, WA.

Main responsibilities:

The appointee will work as a team member of the project under the direction of the CEO. The main responsibilities will include:

  • Working hands-on in the day-to-day project activities for the commissioning and operation of the pyrolysis plant in Collie, including the construction, installation, and adaptation of any additional components identified by the CEO and Lead Engineer as necessary design improvements.
  • Uphold and promote high standards of safety, ensuring compliance with WHS and environmental regulations.
  • Assisting the coordination of work by other on-site tradespeople/technicians, including contractors.
  • Provide practical input and technical problem-solving as new challenges arise.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Company.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven experience as a plant operator, technician, or in a similar hands-on role.
  • Competency in using a broad range of tools, machinery, and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to contribute in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Sound understanding of safety and environmental aspects of commercial projects.
  • Physically fit and able to perform practical work in varying site conditions.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident based in or willing to relocate to south-west WA.

Non-Essential but Desirable Skills & Attributes:

  • Qualification and/or working experience as a welder, fabricator, fitter, or other relevant trade.
  • Qualification and/or working experience in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Forklift licence
  • Prior experience leading small, innovative and dynamic teams.
  • A sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and other relevant standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with project coordination or site management is a plus.
  • Prior experience in commissioning major facilities/plants will be highly valued.
  • Background in the waste management, bioenergy, or sustainable technology sectors.

Please submit your CV along with a short statement outlining why you’re a strong fit for this specific role.

Applications close 8 June 2025, but early applications are encouraged, as we may appoint a suitable candidate prior to the deadline.
