Purpose of the Role

The O&M Manager will be responsible for leading a small team and overseeing the operational and maintenance activities and initiatives of renewable energy projects, ensuring efficient performance, reliability, and safety, while also managing budgets and contractors.

Reports to:

Reporting to the General Manager Western Australia.

Managers:

Responsible for managing a small team of Engineers, Electricians and Administration staff as well as coordinating and overseeing contractor activities and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management:

  • Monitoring and optimising the performance of renewable energy assets (e.g., solar farms, wind farms).
  • Ensuring efficient energy production and grid integration.
  • Developing and implementing operational procedures and protocols.

Maintenance Management:

  • Planning and scheduling routine and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Managing and coordinating maintenance activities, including repairs and upgrades.
  • Ensuring the safety and reliability of renewable energy assets.

Budget and Contract Management:

  • Developing and managing O&M budgets.
  • Negotiating and managing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervising and managing O&M teams and personnel.
  • Providing training and development opportunities for O&M staff.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Tracking and analysing the performance of renewable energy assets.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Preparing regular performance reports for stakeholders.

Safety Management:

  • Ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment.
  • Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.

Liaising with Stakeholders:

  • Communicating with clients, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Providing updates on project performance and maintenance activities.

What You’ll Need

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualification:  Valid Electrical Worker License in Western Australia.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, batteries).
  • Systems knowledge: Sound knowledge of SCADA systems and programming.
  • Experience:  Previous HV experience switching and maintenance as well as Testing and commissioning.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects, budgets, and resources.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures.
  • Staff management:  Exposure to 24/7 monitoring and on-call team including sub-contractors in planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Valid WA driver’s license and reliable transportation.
