What you’ll do

  • Ensure that work is performed safely and efficiently with no harm to people or the environment. This includes all works performed by internal employees and contractors.
  • Promote and maintain WPS brand and reputation by ensuring subcontractor personnel act with honesty and integrity towards all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comply with WPS Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Health Safety and Environment Management systems.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and responsive and accurate action.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement all new safety initiatives in the workplace.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and observations.
  • Observance of quality and technical procedures, work instructions and practices.
  • Review outage documentation for accuracy and comment to add value or correct mistakes.
  • Management of site operational policies and procedures to ensure site contract KPI’s are met or exceed with respect to production deliverables.
  • Monitor outage activities and plant condition and maintain good internal organizational relationships.
  • Develop the skills, motivation and resources of outage team members and monitor their performance.
  • Ensure quality control of subcontractor activities in line with WPS Quality Management and HSE procedures.
  • To supervise maintenance and outage activities to ensure availability of plant is optimised, while complying with statutory obligations and WPS HSE requirements.
  • Liaise with planning and operations groups to ensure permits for work being done are correct and issued appropriately.
  • Liaises closely with outage planner to complete tasks, update schedules and maintain high levels of plant reliability.
  • Provide effective leadership and coordination in outage planning and execution activities.
  • Provide leadership for direct reports and staff to ensure successful operations such that the client service requirements and the company’s business objectives are met or bettered.
  • Scope/Job estimating of maintenance activities including resources necessary to execute work in safe manner.

What you’ll have

  • Leadership and supervisory experience of employees and subcontractors
  • Experience in power generation/coal plants/gas turbine industry
  • Self-starter focused and able to prioritize in order to achieve work targets with minimal supervision.
  • Good understanding of planning/scheduling
  • Knowledge of computer-based MMS (SAP preferred)
  • Computer literacy (SAP, Microsoft suite etc)
  • Trade Qualifications Boilermaker/Mechanical Fitter (preferred)
  • OHS Construction Induction (White/Blue Card)
  • Confined Space/Working at Heights cards (obtained within the last two years)
  • High Risk Work Licence – Cranes, Dogging, Rigging, Scaffolding, Forklift, or EWP
