Production Manager with pharmaceutical manufacturing experience required, paying up to $170’000 + super

Your new company

An Australian owned medicinal cannabis manufacturer are looking for a permanent production manager for their Western Australian plant.

Your new role

To oversee and manage all production activities within a GMP-regulated medicinal cannabis manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all processes align with regulatory standards, company goals, and quality objectives while optimising efficiency, maintaining product integrity, and fostering a culture of compliance and excellence.

  1. Production Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the production process, including extraction, formulation, and packaging of medicinal cannabis products.
  • Ensure efficient workflow and optimal use of resources to meet production targets.
  • Approve and strictly enforce procedures related to GMP production operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of GMP facility and equipment to ensure consistent operational readiness and compliance.
  • Supervise and validate all critical processes, ensuring validation requirements are thoroughly met.
  1. Compliance:
  • Maintain compliance with GMP standards, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence across the production team.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to resolve deviations, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor the production team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and compliance.
  • Provide oversight and ensure training and performance reviews for team members to maintain high operational standards.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain product quality.
  1. Health & Safety:
  • Ensure the production environment adheres to workplace health and safety standards.
  • Assist with conducting safety audits and collaborate with QA team to identify and address potential risks.

Support the implementation of safety measures and promote a culture of workplace safety amongst production personnel.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Min 8 years’ experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical (or related) industry. Experience in the Medicinal Cannabis industry or familiarity with cannabis extraction and manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment, such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or similar industries.
  • Full work rights in Australia.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Well-organised and able to work to agreed timelines.
  • MS Office skills, including advanced skills in Excel.
  • Efficient problem-solving and scientific data interpretation skills; and
  • The ability to set priorities, manage simultaneous tasks, and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Manufacturing or Process Engineering) or related field.

What you’ll get in return

In return, you will receive a salary package of between $150,000 and $170,000 per year + Super + Discretionary bonus.
