Your new company
A government department in Collie, are seeking an experienced Trades Assistant to join the team as soon as possible. This role is being offered on an initial temporary engagement until June, with a likeliness of extension should all go well. This role will require you to work full-time hours on an initial temporary engagement paying a competitive hourly rate.
Your new role
As the Trades Assistant for this team, you will be responsible for:
- Conduct serviceability and equipment control checks on inbound vehicles
- Conduct serviceability checks on out bound vehicles that have been in storage
- Change Batteries in vehicles
- Conduct minor mechanical repairs
- Drive vehicles to and from service providers
- Wash and detail fire appliances
- Run fire pumps to determine serviceability (training to be provided) and check nozzle sprays
- Fill and drain tanks on fire appliances using hydrants and lay flat hoses
- Check hoses for compliance dates and change if required (training to be provided)
- Unload and load trucks with a forklift
- Conduct two – way radio checks (training to be provided)
- Refuel vehicles
- Remove decals from appliances being decommissioned
What you’ll need to succeed
In order to be considered, you will need to have:
- A manual MR licence (mandatory in order to be considered)
- Forklift ticket (highly desired)
- Previous experience / exposure working with or alongside a mechanical environment/team
- Excellent team player mentality and the ability to work autonomously
- You must be based in Collie or near this location
