Premier Coal

Premier Coal is Western Australia’s largest coal producer, mining about 3 million tonnes per year. It is managed by Yancoal Australia on behalf of its majority shareholder Yankuang Energy Group.

Premier has a proud history of mining in WA’s Collie Coal Basin stretching back more than 75 years.

A modern open cut operation, Premier has a truck and shovel/excavator fleet along with state-of-the-art crushing, blending, and train and truck loading facilities.

Annually, total coal production from Premier Coal is around 3 million tonnes, with around 90% used for power generation and steam raising.  The remaining coal is mostly used for synthetic rutile production.

Located near Collie in the South West of the State, Premier is proud to be part of the local community and economy.  It employs about 500 people, spends tens of millions of dollars annually with local businesses, and is proud to support an array of community groups and projects.
