Shire of Collie welcomes new CEO

The Shire of Collie Council last night appointed Stuart Devenish as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Devenish, who is currently the General Manager Infrastructure and Environment at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, has a strong background in local government and strategic planning in both the public and private sector.

He has played an active role in bringing new industry to the Goldfields region, serving to diversify and bolster the local economy.  He has also transformed the City’s water service to ensure it will sustain long-term benefit for the City.

“I am honored to be appointed Chief Executive Officer and thank the Council for the opportunity,” Mr Devenish said.

“My time at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has shown me what local government can achieve when it has the right mindset.

“This means recognising opportunities and working hard to facilitate new investment and achieving outcomes that benefit business and in-turn, the community as a whole.

“My background gives me a perspective from ‘both sides of the counter’, and the community can expect an attitude of ‘let’s make it happen’.

“My wife and I look forward to making the move and becoming part of the Collie community in the New Year.”

Collie Shire President, Cr Sarah Stanley, welcomed the appointment of Mr Devenish.

“Council is really excited to have Stuart come on board to help drive positive community outcomes in such an important time in our history”, Cr Stanley said.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Stuart and his wife into our community in the New Year and working together to make real change.”
