Business Connections Brings Local Business Voices Together to Help Shape Collie’s Economic and Tourism Future

The Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in partnership with the Shire of Collie, recently hosted a Business Connections event focused on helping shape the future direction of Collie’s economic development and tourism sector.

Held at the Shire of Collie Council Chambers on Wednesday 19 August, the event provided local businesses and community representatives with an opportunity to learn more about the development of the Shire’s new Economic Development & Tourism Strategy and contribute ideas about the opportunities and challenges facing Collie.

The evening brought together representatives from the local business community for an informative and interactive session, reinforcing the importance of ensuring local businesses have a voice in strategic planning for Collie’s future.

Shaping Collie’s Future

The evening commenced with a welcome and introduction from the Shire President, followed by an overview of the Economic Development & Tourism Strategy and the process being undertaken to develop a practical and future-focused framework for the region.

The session was facilitated by Delos Delta, the strategy consultancy supporting the development of the Strategy through community and business engagement.

Participants took part in an interactive discussion and live polling session, providing an opportunity to share their views on Collie’s economic and tourism priorities, identify opportunities for growth and consider what is needed to support local businesses into the future.

The feedback gathered will contribute to the broader engagement process currently underway as the Strategy is developed.

Businesses and community members who would like to provide further input into the Strategy are encouraged to complete the online survey. The survey provides an opportunity to share feedback and help inform the development of Collie’s Economic and Tourism Strategy.

Connecting Collie’s Businesses

The event also featured a presentation from Cameron Edwards, Regional Development and Engagement Manager for NBN in Western Australia’s South West.

Mr Edwards provided an update on the role of connectivity in supporting regional businesses and communities, highlighting opportunities for local businesses to make better use of available connectivity and digital technologies.

His presentation also provided practical information about simple actions businesses and households can take to understand and improve their connectivity options.
