Business Connections Breakfast: Connecting Local Businesses with Workforce Opportunities Through Collie Job Connect
The Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) recently hosted a Business Connections Breakfast, bringing together local businesses, industry representatives, government representatives, and community stakeholders to explore new opportunities for workforce development and learn how Collie Job Connect can support local recruitment needs.
Hosted by Collie Job Connect at the Collie Jobs and Skills Centre, the event provided local businesses with the opportunity to connect, learn, and discover practical tools to help attract and connect with local talent.
Event Highlights
The breakfast focused on strengthening connections between employers and job seekers across the Collie region, highlighting the important role of accessible employment services, training pathways, and digital tools in supporting a strong and sustainable workforce.
Attendees were welcomed by the Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with acknowledgement of the important role that collaboration between local businesses, government, training providers, and community organisations plays in supporting workforce development and the future growth of the region. Kathy Keay, Director, Strategic Partnerships at South Regional TAFE WA, then provided an introduction to the event, highlighting the importance of strong industry and training partnerships in creating pathways to employment and ensuring the community is supported to meet evolving workforce needs.
The Chamber was pleased to welcome Member for Collie-Preston, Jodie Hanns MLA, who addressed attendees and highlighted the importance of initiatives that support local employment opportunities, workforce development, and economic diversification across the region.
Ms Hanns acknowledged Collie Job Connect as an example of an election commitment coming to fruition, demonstrating the delivery of initiatives designed to support local businesses, connect job seekers with opportunities, and strengthen the future workforce of the Collie region.
The Chamber also acknowledged the attendance of Shire President Ian Miffling, recognising the Shire of Collie’s ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses, community development, and initiatives that contribute to the region’s future growth.
Program Overview
The event featured two live demonstrations of the Collie Job Connect website and app, showcasing how the platform can assist local businesses with their recruitment needs and connect employers with job seekers across the Collie region.
Collie Job Connect brings local jobs and training opportunities together in one place, providing users with access to smart job matching, tailored alerts, and simple tools to refine preferences and identify suitable opportunities. The platform also provides the added convenience of app access, allowing job seekers to connect with opportunities close to home.
Businesses were provided with practical guidance on using the platform, including how to post job vacancies, access key features, and connect with potential employees. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive one-on-one support.
Supporting Local Workforce Growth
The Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a strong history of supporting local employment connections, including through The Collie Hub, which provided a platform for local businesses and job seekers to access employment opportunities.
CCCI supports the move to Collie Job Connect as a dedicated regional platform designed to further enhance connections between employers and job seekers across the Collie region. By bringing local jobs and training opportunities together in one place, Collie Job Connect provides businesses and job seekers with improved access to workforce opportunities through smart job matching, tailored alerts, and convenient digital access.
The Collie Jobs and Skills Centre is a free, locally based service supporting the community through career advice, links to training pathways, and access to employment opportunities including information on emerging sectors in the region. Delivered through the State’s Jobs and Skills Centre network, the Centre provides practical support to individuals and businesses by helping build skills, strengthen employment pathways, and respond to evolving workforce needs.

The event provided an opportunity for local businesses to build relationships, share experiences, and explore how Collie Job Connect can support workforce planning and recruitment now and into the future.
