Collie Rail Heritage Group
Collie Rail Heritage Group
Founded in 1997, the Collie Rail Heritage Group is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Collie’s rich rail history. From restoring the historic 1898 Collie Goods Shed to refurbishing vintage locomotives, carriages, and wagons, the group provides a hands-on experience of Western Australia’s rail heritage.
The group manages the Goods Shed Museum, the Bill Weir Rolling Stock Shed, a restored railway footbridge, and a replica Collie Railway Station, offering guided tours, public viewing, and events. Highlights include rare diesel locomotives, vintage sleeping coaches, and interactive displays detailing Collie’s railway legacy.
Members enjoy newsletters, volunteer opportunities, priority bookings for functions, and involvement in ongoing restoration projects. The group’s mission is to promote Collie’s unique rail history for the enjoyment of visitors, enthusiasts, and the wider community.
